“Encounter the Healing Love and Power of the risen Jesus Christ.”

Activating God’s healing power

Jun 16, 2016

God’s healing is when we experience the power of God within us to bring restoration and life into our minds and bodies.

As we consider the question of healing, this article content is inspired by material from one of Bill’s teachings.

Isaiah 53:4-5 is one of the most important scriptures that we can claim in relation to our healing.

Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

Jesus healed us on the cross. Believing in this scripture and taking it into our minds and hearts is a key element in receiving our healing.

Jesus took our griefs and sorrows upon himself.

We are healed, both spiritually and physically by the blows and stripes that were laid on the back of Jesus.

The words griefs and sorrows can be translated as pains and sicknesses.

Jesus was made sick with our sicknesses that we might be healed with His healing.

Jesus did not just remove our diseases. He lifted them off us by an act of power and took them away. So by taking them on Himself, He sustained and carried them for us.

He removed from the sinner the exposure to punishment and made the decision to take on Himself whatever was necessary as an outcome.

He opened Himself to what God determined as a proper expression of the evil of sin.

Jesus was stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. Man saw the suffering of Jesus but did not understand WHY He suffered.

Jesus was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities.

To those watching Jesus’ death on the cross, it is unlikely that they really understood the reason for His suffering. To them it would have seemed to have no purpose. But Isaiah explains that it was for us; for our transgressions and our iniquities. It was in our place that He suffered.

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him.

As we suffer with our own sorrows and sins, we can come before the Lord in repentance, to be forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Jesus’ sacrifice.

Because Jesus endured the sorrows, which were necessary to secure our peace with God, He took on the punishment for us.

And by His stripes we are healed.

The healing of a sinner does not rest in himself, or in what he is, or feels, or does, or in what he promises. It is not in himself at all. It is in Jesus’ stripes. That is where the healing is.

Jesus went freely to the Cross and endured there so that we can receive healing in this life and be free from sin and sickness, pain and suffering for all time.

As we choose to step into a life with Christ, we can receive the healing that He made possible.
