Breaking Curses

“Encounter the Healing Love and Power of the risen Jesus Christ.”

Causes of Curses

Scripture shows that curses can come through many doorways, such as:

  • Idolatry or false gods (Exodus 20:3–4)
  • Dishonouring parents (Deuteronomy 27:16)
  • Injustice or sexual sin (Deuteronomy 27:18–23)
  • Involvement in the occult or ungodly covenants (2 Corinthians 6:14–17)
  • Words spoken by others in authority – e.g., parents, spouses, leaders
  • Self-imposed words like “I’ll never succeed” or “I wish I were dead”

Even the objects we allow into our homes can sometimes carry spiritual influence if they are tied to idolatry or occult practices (Deuteronomy 7:26).

Breaking Free

Through Christ, freedom is possible. Here are the steps:

  1. Recognise the curse – acknowledge the repeating pattern.
  2. Repent – confess sin and renounce it in Jesus’ name.
  3. Resist – stand against the enemy as James 4:7 says: “Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
  4. Replace lies with truth – declare God’s promises aloud, such as Psalm 118:17: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.”

Prayer of Release

Pray this out loud in faith:

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ. I confess and renounce all sin, including unforgiveness, fear, and dishonour. I break every curse spoken over me, every self-imposed curse, and every ungodly soul tie. By the blood of Jesus, I am cleansed and set free. I renounce Satan and all his works, and I declare that I belong fully to Jesus Christ. Thank You, Lord, for my freedom. Amen.

Curses may feel like a shadow from the past, but the Cross has already broken their power. In Jesus, you are no longer bound to cycles of fear or defeat. Walk in freedom, speak God’s truth, and live in the blessing of His promises.
